SCA donated over 10,000 Drypers baby diapers and a grand total of 100,000 Ringgit to four charities in Malaysia. The Drypers "Change for Charity" initiative invited parents in Malaysia to perform a simple diaper change for their babies at the event, and saw a total of 1,073 baby diapers changed across five days from 20th to 24th October.
For every diaper changed, SCA then multiplied their donation in the form of baby diaper products by 10 times, and contributed over 10,000 Drypers baby diapers to four charities at the end of the charity drive.
SCA supports four charities in Malaysia
The four charities in Malaysia selected as beneficiaries of the Drypers "Change for Charity" were:
- Children's Cancer Ward at Pusat Perubatan University Malaya
- Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Ipoh (Association of Welfare for Disabled Children Ipoh)
- Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang (Association of Welfare for Disabled Children Klang)
- Taman Sinar Harapan Kuala Kubu Bharu (a shelter home for children)
Children with special needs
The babies and young children being supported by these charity homes and associations need special attention and quality care, to help them overcome the disadvantages arising from their unfortunate physical or social circumstances.
As such SCA’s Drypers brand also made a contribution of 100,000 Ringgit cash (roughly equivalent to 25,000 EUR), equally divided among these four charities as additional funds to purchase basic needs for the babies and children under the care of these charities.
Drypers no.1 baby diaper brand for 10 years in Malaysia
Drypers has been hosting a series of activities for consumers in Malaysia throughout 2010 to celebrate its being the No. 1 baby diaper brand for 10 consecutive years in Malaysia.
The “Drypers ‘Change for Charity’ marks the closure of this year-long celebration. “We believe that this celebration should end on a meaningful note, therefore, it is apt for Drypers to organise a charity drive that involves Malaysians performing a simple parenting task, which is baby diaper change,” said SCA’s Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines commercial director Su Ting Nee.
